Is Emotional Quotient Really Important??

Welcome or welcome back my dear bloggers to my blogs. I hope you all are in good health and are having a blast of a day.

Something weird happens and your loved one starts an argument. You choose not to fuel the argument because that person really matters to you more than the argument. Celebrate the moment as you just proved that you have a strong EQ, as in emotional quotient.

A question for for you:

You are in an inter personal conflict, how would you deal with it?

  1. Compete ( carefully pursuing with ones thought regardless of the resistance from the confronting person)
  2. Collaboration ( an attempt to work along side the other person and find a common ground that solves the issue.)
  3. Compromise ( to agree with the other person for that moment which partially satisfies both of you)
  4. To avoid ( to withdraw yourself from the situation without addressing the conflict.)

What will you choose from the above questions?

In case you are looking for a right answer, there is no right answer to this. All four of them are to be considered right depending on the situation you are in. The EQ, Emotional Quotient, plays the most significant role in these types of situations. Humans are trained to respond emotionally first, and then cognitively, especially in the heated moment like the one mentioned in the start.

Before we even think of deciding what to do, our brains decides depending on your emotions and the available information in your subconscious mind. Our emotions really influence our perceptions and understanding, beliefs, attitude and even decisions. All other factors being equal, people with greater awareness of and control over their emotions, i.e higher EQ level, are more successful than people who take their emotions for granted. IQ, intelligent quotient, alone is not enough to determine a persons ability. In fact, EQ works side by side with IQ for the best outcome.

EQ is no longer considered a “soft skill”, because of its significant role in our personal and professional life. Many studies have proved that the people who are happier, more successful and more fulfilled in life, have a higher EQ level. Even in professional life, people with high EQ perform better and are more likely to grow as an individual.

So that was all for this blog. I hope you all liked it. And thank you for reading this far…
