KGF is a series of Indian Kannada language period action films produced by Hombale Films and featuring Yash in the lead part with a large ensemble supporting cast. The series is named after the Kolar Gold Fields, where it is primarily set. Prashanth Neel invented it.[4] The show, which is set in the late 1970s and early 1980s, follows two narrators: Anand Ingalangi and his son Vijayendra Ingalangi, who speaks with a prominent news channel about a book that Anand wrote and which details the life story of Raja Krishnappa Bairya, also known as Rocky (Yash), a high-ranking mercenary from Mumbai who was born into poverty and rose to become the most feared person of that era.
KGF: Chapter 2, which was produced for ₹100 crore, is the most costly Kannada film ever produced. Neel kept the technicians from its predecessor; Ravi Basrur wrote the lyrics and the film score, while Bhuvan Gowda handled the cinematography. Early in2019, Dutt and Tandon (the former in his first Kannada film) joined the ensemble. A portion of the movie was recorded concurrently with Chapter 1. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown in India, principal photography for the remaining sequences was suspended in February 2020, having started in March 2019. Five months later, filming got back on, and it was finished in December 2020. Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mysore, and Kolar were among the places. On April 14, 2022, KGF: Chapter 2 was theatrically released in Kannada and dubbed in other languages in India.
