Pat Seed was in her early fifties when she was informed that she had terminal cancer, with only six months to live. Pat Seed could have cursed her fate. Instead, she determined to do sonething for victims of cancer. She gathered all her energy to do missionary work of raising funds to buy a sophisticated scanner for early detection of cancer. The scanner was to be bought for Christie Hospital in Manchester. She was totally oblivious of anything else, including her own terminal illness. In the process, she was able to outlive her six months (in 1989) pronounced by the doctors. Within a period of six years she raised more than three million pounds for the life saving equipment. She was presented with an MBE by the Queen of England. She became absolutely free from cancer.
Innumerable patients have been scanned by the equipment bought out of her personal efforts and thereby many lives have been saved.
In a newspaper interview she made the following

QUESTIONS
1. What is Pat Seed's comment?
2. What is the implication of this story?
ANSWERS
1. I heard about two cancer patients, both men, who like me were given six months to live.
One went home, made arrangements for his funeral, and died a fortnight later.
The other went home, looked at his seven children and thought: How on earth will this lot cope, if I go? Now twenty years later, those children grown up and he's still alive."
2. Mind over matter is the message of this story. Mind is the master and body is he servant. Dr. Carl Simonton of USA has cured hundreds of terminal cancer patients through his meditation techniques which I prefer to call CRVR Meditation.
C stands for Conviction that cancer can be cured through Meditation;
R refers Relaxation through Meditation;
V implies Visualization by the patient that the cancerous growth is getting reduced;
R would mean Radiation. This means regular treatment of cancer through radio therapy.
Unless such treatment is taken up, it is difficult for the patients to get convinced that cancer can be cured only through meditation. The methodology adopted by Dr. Simonton is highly appreciable. If you are interested to know more about Dr. Carl Simonton's contribution to the medical history of cancer treatment, read the book Mind Power by Nona Coxhead.
