Hey fellow foodies! Welcome back to my blog. Today I would like to take you through the various chaats of India! Like honestly, come on, there's no one who hates street food. It just happens to be yummy.
So anyway, without further ado…
Number 1 : Bhel Puri
This dish is one of my personal favourites. If I find it on the menu, I'm getting it. It's a popular road side snack that originated in Mumbai. It combines various ingredients, that are mostly raw, to render a unique tangy flavour. It is made of puffed rice, vegetables and a tamarind sauce. It has a nice crunchy texture as well.
Some historians say that this dish might have originated in Bombay eateries, while some others argue that it simply might be a variation of Bhadang, a puffed rice snack that is both spicy and salty.
Moving on…
Number 2 : Pani Puri
Personally I really had no idea this food could be really lip smacking, finger- licking good. My parents never allowed us to have pani puri or gol gappa as it is affectionately known. My mother would take another route to go back home to make sure my sister and I never fell for the temptation that our eyes would devour. But later on, she bought the pani puri kit, and my goodness, I was grateful my lovely mother gave us a chance to try it. And of course as the name suggests, for pani, it is eaten with khatta meetha pani or jeera pani.
This dish goes beyond just stuffed potatoes and a crispy shell!
Dahi Puri is a variation of Pani Puri except that there's a generous topping of curd. There's Dahi vada too, that is a must try.
Up next we have…
Number 3 : Dahi Papdi Chaat
It is basically crispy papdi or puri with boiled potatoes, moong, onion, yoghurt and spice along with some green chutney. This is actually my uncle's favourite.
Number 4 : Pav Bhaji
This is one of the dishes my mother and grandmother conjure up, your mouth starts watering even before your eyes behold it or you taste it. The smell wafting out of the kitchen or even any chaat eaterie is awesome.
This is popularly considered a fast food item, and sometimes a chaat item. This dish tastes best when served hot on a rainy day (preferably at home).
Number 5 : Aloo Chaat
It is a yummy street food of crunchy potato cubes with ground spices for flavoring and furnished with coriander leaves and pomegranate seeds! As you eat it, you can taste the sweet and sour tamarind sauce added to this mix of varied ingredients rendering it a lovely taste.
That's it you guys. Do add your favourite chaats in the comments. Do like my blogs and follow me.
