Hello! I’ve never actually had a blog before, but I’ve decided to make one to document my Anime journey. Although I’m still not quite sure if I will always only be sticking to Anime, or if I will also expand to other foreign genres as well in the future.
At the moment I’m currently a struggling college student trying to keep up with her classes, so I’m not quite sure how often I will be able to post. But I do plan on posting here every time I finish a series, since I’m planning for this to be kind of like my personal Anime diary from now on. So I guess I’m mostly writing here to keep track of my own opinions and for personal reference. But if anyone else happens to come across here, welcome! I hope that whatever I’m going to post here will be helpful to you in some way!
My first experience with Anime was when I was around 13 years old (so 2011-ish). Some of my friends were into it, so I decided to try watching something and somehow ended up with Fullmetal Alchemist (the original). I absolutely loved the first few episodes, especially since action and adventure were my favorite genres at the time, and was impatient to find out what would happen after the whole Father Cornello mess. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stand to sit through the seemingly endless episodes of backstory, and ended up quitting after watching a few of them. I essentially gave up on Anime after that.
Years later, during the summer of 2018, I was aimlessly watching random movie reviews when I came across a review for Netflix’s Death Note. By that time, action adventure was no longer my undisputed love, but was contested by psychological thrillers. Although the reviewer had sworn himself to be spoiler-free, he did end up touching a bit on the Anime version’s general plot, which to my surprise seemed exactly like what I was really into at that time. And by the end of the week I had already finished the show.
Now, almost a year later, I have gone through about 15 shows. Anime isn’t the only thing I’ve been watching, and I’ve been trying to focus on my studies as well, but from what I have seen I really love this medium. So far my favorite show is probably My Hero Academia with Death Note and Haikyuu close behind it. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and Hunter x Hunter would have also been on this list if not for a couple arcs that weren’t so great. But that discussion is for another day.
Anyways, it’s getting pretty late and I’ve already spent way longer than I should have to type this out and insert those pictures. I look forward to sharing my thoughts on what little experience I have so far with Anime, and continuing my journey through these posts!
