Hello everyone!
I know you all are well aware of the term ‘feminism’. Don't worry I won't speak in favor of only women, because equality is not this, and I truly believe in equality.
Even though feminism has different definitions, and various types covering various aspects of it, but all it should mean to us is achieving equality for women. Yes, we still are lagging behind in attaining an equal status for women. Have you ever thought where we need to improve so that we can give our part into it, in making women equal to men? If you have ever thought this, and you really want to be a part of this movement, then you must know that it all starts from within, which means firstly you must know how to respect a woman and how to treat her equally. And one more thing that you should remember is that it starts from the very childhood of ours in our own home, so try to improve that and the situation would be a lot better. Usually, in families girls and boys from birth are treated so differently that it all starts taking roots in the mind of children also. They develop their thinking as they see their family behaving in these gender-stereotypes. And then, when girls start understanding that something is different with them in the family, boys till now had already learned this masculine behavior from the men of the family and even some elders (including women). Yes, you read it right. I will talk about this in detail, but first let's finish this point. So, as I was talking about the family’s role in making women a model of gender-biased behaviors prescribed by society, it is true. Even now in many families, girls are limited to many things, including parties, night-outs, etc. We all understand that situations and surroundings are not safe outside for women, but don’t we know because of whom? Obviously it's because of men. Just because they are out at night, roaming here and there, women are not safe outside. So, I hope you all would have understood that how it is because of family elders and men that women are restricted to do things.
Well, now coming to my next point I agree that not only men but women are also responsible for this. The elderly women of our families try to mould younger generation girls like themselves. I know that they may do this because men asked them to do so, or maybe because they are not aware of their rights. But those who are even aware don’t speak up for their daughters. Why so!? I won't answer this as there can be no right explanation to it (at least for me). I believe if you have gone through that typical women life, then at least you should now understand and support your daughters or granddaughters, so that they don't have to go through such things. Moreover, there are some women, who are the reason of failure of feminist movement. Some women try to play victim cards and destroy the life of men, and such incidents make people believe that feminism is not something right for their daughters or sisters or mothers. They believe it to be a fake movement started by some women to exploit other women's mindset. This is one more reason why we still lag behind in this movement. So, I really request women to not do such things for the sake of feminism. We need to attain an equal status but not by destroying the lives of innocents.
We all need to understand that our fight for equality is still not over yet. We need to show everyone that we indeed are equal to men, and we can live independently.
