Hello everyone! In this blog is about coconut tree…
Coconut trees are commonly known to have many uses around the world. From its oil, fresh water and milk, fruits, and leaves they offer us many things. Here are some of the ways how coconut has helped us over time.
Coconut Oil:
This is probably the best-known application of coconuts. Its oil was originally used for cooking purposes only, but it has since been shown to possess many medicinal benefits. Aside from being edible, coconut oil is a great moisturizer that helps to keep skin soft and supple. It can even help treat acne scars. It’s also proven to reduce cholesterol levels and prevent heart diseases. However, if you consume too much of it, you may experience weight gain.
Milk:
Not just any old milk; this is full-fat coconut milk. You might think about it like regular cow’s milk, except instead of having to buy cow’s milk at the store, you can use a bag of shredded coconut as a substitute. Coconut milk has plenty of protein and iron, along with vitamins B12, D, K, A, C, E, Folate, and calcium. And since it’s packed with fat, it keeps you feeling fuller longer.
Water:
While we cannot live without water, drinking pure coconut water provides some unique benefits. Unlike regular water, coconut water doesn’t retain any odor or taste even after sitting for hours. Besides this, it contains a significant amount of electrolytes and minerals that our bodies need, especially when working out. If you want to replace plain water, try mixing coconut water with lemon juice and mint leaves for a refreshing drink.
Leaves:
When it comes to making paper, the leaves of coconut trees are often used. Not only do they make great natural paper, but they can also be used to create things like baskets, boxes, and bowls. After harvesting them, place them in direct sunlight for about two weeks until they dry completely. Then you can easily remove the leaves from the shell.
Fruits:
Like the leaves, these fruits can also be used to make something useful. Since coconuts can grow anywhere between 15 feet tall, their fruit is often harvested by climbing up the trees. Once cut down, they should be left to ripen naturally for about seven days before being eaten. These fruits are filled with fiber, vitamin C, potassium, manganese, copper, riboflavin, niacin, zinc, vitamin B6, folate, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Fiber:
This is not exactly a benefit of using coconuts, but rather a side effect. When people eat a lot of coconut products, the fiber becomes trapped inside the body, leading to issues like gas, bloating, and diarrhea.
Coconut cream:
After extracting the coconut milk, the liquid portion is separated from the solid material known as coconut cream. While coconut milk does not contain any actual cream, coconut cream contains a significant amount of fat which makes it thicker than coconut milk.
