Hello everyone! In this blog is about outdoor games…
Outdoor Games for Families:
Many families enjoy time spent outside doing fun activities together. As parents, we want our children to have fun while being active. Most people agree that kids need to get out and play! Playing games outdoors helps build the skills necessary for physical activity later in life.Children who spend more time playing outdoors show improved attention, motor skills, coordination, social skills, resilience, and self-esteem. If you want your child to have a full life filled with opportunities to practice these skills, then encourage them to engage in outdoor activities.
Basketball Hoops:
Basketball hoops are great for promoting play and movement. They don't require any special equipment, but do require some space for the hoop to reside. Set up your own backyard basketball court using posts set at least 4 feet high, and attach the rim to the post with a chain link fence. You can even use a tree stump or bench to create a backboard. You'll need to provide netting and baskets to keep balls from flying away, though! Use a sturdy rope for suspending the netting above the basket.
Water Features:
Children will enjoy water features if they have time to relax. A simple pool or fountain makes a great addition to your yard. Your child may enjoy watching fish swim around or simply relaxing in a shallow area. Adding a pond will allow your child to observe life underwater. This could also enhance wildlife habitat and serve as a natural way to reduce runoff pollution.
Tug o' War:
Tug o' war is a classic children's game you can play anywhere, anytime. You'll need two people per side and two ropes tied together. One rope is attached to a stick or pole. Players take turns pulling on either end of the rope and trying to pull it over the other player's stick. After pulling the rope around the other players stick, the rope is reeled in.
Hopscotch:
Hopscotch is a classic childhood game where kids draw a hopscotch grid on the ground and attempt to hop the various squares without stepping off the board.
Hide-and-Go Seek:
Hide and Go Seek is a fun game where teams hide in a place and whoever finds them wins. To play, each team chooses one member who goes “it”. That person hides somewhere out of sight and the rest of the team must find that individual. For example, if you were hiding in the kitchen, you would be the “it” person, and the others would have to search the house. Whoever finds the “it’ person wins.
