Hello everyone! In this blog is about vegetarian….
Pros of vegetarian :
Healthier:
Vegetarians have lower rates of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, arthritis, certain cancers and have a decreased risk of dementia, depression and anxiety compared to meat eaters. There are many studies showing how people who consume diets rich in vegetables, fruits and whole grains have a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's disease and osteoporosis.
More environmentally friendly:
By choosing to go vegitarian we're making a smaller environmental footprint. Vegetables take less time to grow than meat, they don't need as much land space and water, produce doesn't require grazing animals and it takes fewer fossil fuels to transport them.
Tastes better:
A lot of vegetarians choose veganism due to ethical reasons but taste-wise I would say they are missing out. If you want healthier food, try experimenting with non-meat alternatives such as tofu, beans, lentils, tempeh, seitan and almond milk. Many restaurants now offer gluten free options too. You may find yourself craving meat after switching!
Cost effective:
One pound of red meat costs about $4-5 while 1 cup of brown rice costs just.25 cents. A vegetarian diet isn't always cheaper than a meaty one but if practiced correctly it can save money in the long run.
Fairer:
It's been proven that vegetarian diets increase the intake of vitamin B12, iron, zinc and omega fatty acids. These vitamins are especially important for pregnant women, children and those following a strict vegan diet.
More nutritious:
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends eating at least five portions of fruit and vegetables each day, however, research suggests that people who follow a vegetarian lifestyle actually meet these recommendations.
This is because of the high fiber content present in vegetables and the increased consumption of antioxidants and phytochemicals.
Cons of vegetarian :
The first thing that comes up when anyone thinks about eating meatless is the fact that they're missing out on protein. Vegetarians do not eat any meats, and they have less than 1/10th the amount of protein compared to meat-eaters.
Meat-eaters tend to consume more calories per day than vegetarians -- around 30 percent more on average. That's why vegetarians should make sure to incorporate some lean protein sources into their diets.
Vegetarianism is not only about being a pescatarian, either; it's also about making a conscious choice to eat less red meat. Red meat tends to be higher in fat and cholesterol, and is associated with heart disease. However, the type of fats that are contained in fish (omega-3 fatty acids) are actually good for our body and brain function.
