synopsis:

The way Gautam menon presents the story of Muthu is similar to Mani Ratnam's Nayakhan. But keep in mind, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is not his Nayakan.

Review:

There are a few things I've come to expect from Gautam Menon's flims over the years. But Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu eschews it all. If Gautam Menon's past flims are any indication, he always knows the right path. The title(Vendhu Thanindathu Kaadu) comes from his Subramania Bharathiyar poem Agni Kunjondru Kanden. Muthu (simbu) is exactly the spark at the heart of a small halmet in Tmailnadu, which appears at the beginning of the flim. This image depicts a blazing fire metaphorically pointing to the coming great changes.

Muthu ends up at a Parrotta stall in mumbai after being forced to leave his village as a result of a accidental fire in the forest he was supposed to be watching. His barbed back is seen as he leaps into the flames and escapes safely over the fence. Those parts are impressive, With the help of writer Jeyamohan, Gautam Menon accurately depicts each stage of Muthu's journey. It feels like reading a book page by page.

Muthu is practical. He quickly realizes that the Stand only serves as a cover for a dubious conspiracy. There's solid screen space for nuance, character development, and attention to detail. A quick glimpse of what's going on at the booth. They make parrotta dough, clean bathrooms, and live in very tight spaces. The impression is that you are travelling with the character. But Gautham Menon repeats his usual mistake with his Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, trying to cram everything into a short amount of time. This is great for being watching. For that reason, the second part was announced before the first part was released in theaters.

I wish there was an event pause. But you, as a viewer, felt that there was too much going on to absorb it all…. Vengeance ties this story together. The hero initially resists giving in to this instinctive feeling. Just before the break, everything changes with a stunning shot scene.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu proves simbhu is willing to step out of her comfort zone and surrender to the director's vision.

VTK is simple but complex. The conversation is punchy in the first half and amateurish in the second half. But there is no shortage of solid performance. STR son , Radhika son performed their respective roles brilliantly. Songs and background AR music greatly enhanced the flim. With a lot of lag and abrupt end to the second half, VTK is a decent one-off watch for him.
