“Does god really exist ?"This seems like a basic question, but everyone of us has once in our lives wondered about this.

It once happened , Gautama, the Buddha, I guess everyone heard of him,so buddha is not his name.His name is GautamaSiddartha.He became a buddha.So his not only the buddha in the world.There have been a thousand of them and they still are . So Gautama was sitting in a large congregation of people one morning.A man arrived and stood there in the shadows,this man is a great devotee.He is a devotee of “Rama”.    Rama is one the popular deities in india, if you already know ,In India ,we have thirty six million gods and godesses ,its a very rich country.The devotees of india ,not now and not everybody but those who take this seriously.They will not utter any word than the name of the god they believe in ,their whole life is devoted to god. 

So this man the devotee of rama stood in the shadows and asked this inevitable question"Is there god"?

Gautama looked at this man and gave a clear empatic answer as NO!

Here in the large congregation of disciples,this is always been a struggle in their mind “ is there god or no god?”.Whenever they ask these kind of questions to Gautama ,he would just become silent, he doesn't say anything . For the first time he gave clear answer "NO GOD".The congregation was so relieved .Joy spread across the congregation .Just this, a struggle about the god , the enlightened one has declared there is no god.The message spread across the town.through out the day celebrations happened ,just imagine the freedom of it.' No god' means nobody sitting up there kepping the accounts of what you did and what you did not do to punish you or burn you in the hell or this or that,life is completely yours ,thinking this the day was celebrated.Every body was in great  joy. Once again the congregation was sitting, another man came in the evening.He was also standing in the shadows.This man is a charvaka, in India there are group of people who were called charvaka.they are out and out materialists. They dont believe any thing other than those they can see.so this is an expert charvaka.Whatever kind of believer you are if you talk to him for like ten minutes he will prove to you ‘no god’.Age is passing.little doubt has come,suppose there is god,when i go there will he leave me ?And all these believers say that he has got all kinda tortures.so he want to confirm and appeared there in the evening and asked the same question.Gautama looked at the man and said YES!

Everyone were so confused. Then he explained" See, if you believe in god or you believe in no god, you are in the same boat".Everyone can believe whatever they want.It need not have anything to do in reality.If you see ‘i dont know’,the longing to know will arise within you,if longing arises seeking arises,if seeking arises the possibility of knowing exists.
