He was the fearless warrior and won many wars and battlefields.He helped king Chattrasal from Bundelkhand in a war and protected his throne from enemies.King Chattrasal gave him a katyar as a symbol of wedding to his daughter Mastani from his muslim wife.
Mastani was heavenly beautiful with charming elegance.She had tender skin and perfect figure.She was blessed with almond shaped and caramel colored eyes.Her lips were tender and pink like rose petals.She was really good dancer and singer.She was trained in all the martial arts, politics and diplomacy, all the household and beauty aids and an intelligence agent par excellence, apart from being proficient in music and dance.
When Bajirao saw her for the first time,his heart was filled with love.During his stay in Bundelkhand,he got so many situations where he met Mastani.He was impressed by her singing,dancing as well as intelligence and fearless attitude.
Every time they met,he fall in love with her more and more.He married her and took her to his home.They faced lot of rejections and humiliations from peshwa family and people.
Bajirao made Mastani mahal for her and she stayed there.They regularly used to meet here.Their romance bloomed and Mastani got pregnant.She gave birth to a son.They named him Samsher.
There were attempts to kill mother and child from peshwa family.When Bajirao got to know this,he announced jahangiri on the name of Samsher in order to protect both of them.
One day Mastani was called to the court to perform music and dancing as courtesans used to do this during that period of time which used to be called Mehefil.
When Peshawa saw her,Anger rushed through his veins and he stopped her from doing so and asked the court people to have respectful behavior towards her as she is his lawfully wedded wife.
Some folktales say that Mastani was the courtesan and Bajirao met her during one of the Mahefil he attended during his stay in Bundelkhand.She became his mistress and then they romanced each other and had a child.
Where the reality is that Mastani was the respectful princess of king Chattrasal and lawfully wedded wife of Peshawa Bajirao.
She was the 2nd wife of Bajirao and this fact got her lot of disrespect and humiliation from peshwa family and people.She was immensely in love with peshawa.The purest bond they had was unbreakable.
They died on the same day.Mastani left this world after hearing the news of death of Bajirao.This is the immortal saga of love and tragedy.
