Chapter 1 Continuation…
I guess so," Mrs. Dursley answered stiffly.
"Again, what was his name? Howard, is that right?
"Harry. If you ask me, that's a nasty, common name.
Mr. Dursley said, "Oh, yes," his heart trembling dreadfully. "Yes, I quite agree."
As they made their way upstairs to their beds, he said nothing further about the matter.
Mr. Dursley sneaked to the bedroom window and glanced down into the front lawn while Mrs. Dursley was in the shower.
There was still a cat. It appeared to be waiting for something as it regarded Privet Drive.
Was he hallucinating? Could the Potters be involved in any of this? He didn't believe he could handle it if it happened... if it was discovered that they were linked to a couple of -- well.
The Dursley family went to bed. Mrs. Dursley slept well, but Mr. Dursley remained up, going over everything in his head.
Even if the Potters were involved, Harry had one final reassuring idea before going to sleep: there was no need for them to approach Mr. and Mrs. Dursley.
The Potters were well aware of his and Petunia's opinions on them and their type. He yawned and shifted over, unable to imagine how he and Petunia could become involved in anything that may be happening.
Exactly how incorrect he was.
The cat on the wall outside was not drowsy, despite Mr. Dursley maybe falling off into an uncomfortable slumber.
It stood still as a statue, with its unwavering gaze set on the far corner of Privet Drive.
When two owls flew overhead or a vehicle door banged on the street across from it, it didn't even flinch. In fact, the cat didn't stir until after midnight.
The man who abruptly and silently came on the corner the cat had been watching seemed as though he had just materialized there.
The cat's eyes shrank and its tail twitched.
On Privet Drive, no one had ever before seen a guy like this. According to the silver in his hair and beard, both of which were long enough to tuck under his belt, he was tall, skinny, and extremely ancient. He was dressed in long robes, a purple cloak that covered his entire body, and strapped, high-heeled boots.
His long, crooked nose appeared to have been broken at least twice, and his blue eyes were lively, bright, and glittering behind half-moon glasses.
Albus Dumbledore was the name of this person.
