What does the future hold for the IT support industry?

The IT industry is changing with the times. Although generally referred to as the IT department, it also has internal divisions. This article talks about the future of the IT support industry.

IT Support
Those who do the work related to Server, Network, Storage, Laptop, Desktop and related work of a company belong to the IT support department.

There are two divisions in this department namely Internal Support and Client Support.

Internal Support is the people who maintain a company's Server, Network, Storage, Laptop, Desktop.

Client Support refers to those who provide the above services to clients on behalf of their organization. These are mostly server and storage specific.

IT sector development
Experienced in this field since Windows 3.1, 286 Motherboard, 4 MB (1998). Initially Field Engineer who goes to every house and company to fix computer problems.

Then moved to a separate company in the Internal Support department and continues till now.

Although initially working on Windows platform, now it is in UNIX / Linux management category.

The following information is based on the experience of working in the IT support industry for the last 23 years  and directly observing every change that has taken place so far.

Stability
There is no hardware / software stability like before. That means a lot of problems.

When there was Windows 95, the problem of 'Windows Protection Error' came up frequently. Sometimes it can be fixed, sometimes it's OS Reinstallation.

If there is an abrupt shutdown when Windows NT arrives, there is no other option but to reinstall the OS, because the OS will become corrupt.

After this Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7 gradually became stable.

Currently Windows 10 works great.

In the beginning, while assembling the computer, you have to face various problems and challenges.

Mother Board, CPU, RAM etc will be defective.

But now assembled computer is almost disappearing. Branded computer is dominating.

Although there are still problems, it is several steps forward in comparison.

Jus One Click
Similarly, Server and Storage are also increasing in stability. That is, the quality of hardware is increasing.

Auto Support etc. get immediate attention in case of errors. Hence, problems can be avoided.

If you shut down / reboot the UNIX server which has been in use for several days, it is doubtful whether it will boot, but now it is not the case.

SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) easily completes what OS and Applications were doing separately for 50 computers.
