WORKING PRINCIPLE:
The main function of the lathe machine is to removing
metals from the work piece and to make it desired according to the
specification provided.In a lathe, the work piece is rotated and the
cutting part is its own location, The tool is used to remove the
material from the work piece. The feed is defined as the direction of
motion of the work piece towards the cutting tool.
First of switch on the electric board and than electricity's comes to the
motor of the lathe machine and starts rotating the chuck with the
motor. Chuck to gear only a hollow shaft rotates not a solid shaft at
the left hand side of the lathe machine that is head stock at the end of
the shafta gear arrangement is there and the power of motor
transmitted by the help of pulley arrangement and also there was a on
and of switch if we right turn the switch it starts clockwise rotation if
we turn Jef thern it start rotation is anticlockwise. Chuck is consist of
two types that is three and four jaw chucks. Where we can setup the
work picce for machinery work. After that there was a tool post which
is mounted on the compound rest and the appropriate cutting tool can
installed on there for work in the deferent operation and the feed
required by the specification is a also taken we can sety the tool
post in a angles (60', 30',15')for tapering operation .
THE SPECIFICATION OF LATHE MACHINE:-

CARRIAGE :
lt is used to holding and moving the cutting tool .
It can be locked at any desired position on the lathe bed .
It consists of
two major parts namely apron and saddle.
CROSS SLIDE :
The cross slide is mounted on the top of the saddle and is provides
cross movement for the tool .
It supports the compound slide and also allows the movement of the
cutting tool at right angle to the lathe centre line .
The crosslide can be moved by its hand wheel or by power feed.
COMPOUND SLIDE :-
The compound slide is fitted on the top and front of the cross slide .
The compound rest can be swiveled horizontally .
LATHE BED: -
It locate the fixed units in accurate relationship to each other
All other part sit on and slide along the bed ways .
CHUCK :-
Chuck is used to hold the workpiece rigidly.
Chuck helps to rotate the work pieces.
There are two types of Chuck.
01:- Three jaw chuck
02:- Four jaw Chuck
TRAY:-
Tray is used to collect the chips .
Tray stores the coolant .
