Ipl : Good/bad For Cricket ?

The IPL has been like a festival in the world of sports for the past decade. Best cricketers from all over the world come together to entertain millions of cricket fans every year. Many young Indian youngsters also get a chance to shine on the big stage. IPL has produced many stars for the Indian cricket team such as Ravindra Jadeja, Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer.

But is IPL and T-20 cricket in general bad for the future of cricket? Because of this tournament young cricket fans have lost their interest in Test matches. Test matches are the best form of cricket. The longest format of the game is what considered to be the ones which prove the player's real capability that includes stamina, strength, skills, temperament etc.

Not only young fans but also young cricketers are now only looking to better their T-20 game. They lack patience while batting or bowling. The batsmen look to score big shots every ball or if they play couple of dot balls they lose their patience. Bowlers lose their line and length if they get hit for boundaries.

Viewers of IPL or T-20 cricket don't want to watch dot balls or low scoring games. They want action every ball either it's a four or a six or even a wicket.

IPL also is a great learning experience for young cricketers specially by sharing a dressing room with experienced cricketers both foreign and Indian. But it also gives foreign players a opportunity to understand our pitch as well as our strategies. It also allows a view of those foreign players' game and mindset.

IPL also has a bad name for match fixing as we have seen in the past. Even though some players and franchises were punished the rumors of match fixing still remain strong.

But as I have said before IPL is also like a festival for cricket fans. So it has it's good sides. It is greatly entertaining as it features the best hitters and equally good bowlers. Fans can see thier cricketing heroes play for the franchisees they support. Few retired International cricketers also play IPL like Suresh Raina, AB De Villiers, MS Dhoni just to name a few. So fans can see their favourites in action for a few more times.

We can't decide either IPL is good or bad for cricket. Everyone has different opinions. I would love to read your views on this topic. I am Bishal and this has been my first post. I would also love a review of this post.
