Terrible situation in Corona across the country. On the one hand, the infection is increasing rapidly. On the other hand, there is growing concern surrounding the wailing scene of corona patients due to lack of oxygen.
In this situation the demand for oxygen has skyrocketed. The whole country is struggling to get oxygen. In this climate the demand for oxygen concentrators is increasing.
However, the price of an oxygen concentrator is beyond the reach of the average person. In such a situation, the scientists of Durgapur National Institute of Technology (NIT) made an oxygen concentrator in the local technology at less than half the price. It has been named 'Pranayam'. This device will cost only 30 thousand rupees. There is a huge demand for this machine to be published on NIT's own website. The Corona situation has caused a massive cry of oxygen across the country.
Oxygen cylinders do not match as required. Lack of oxygen in the hospital, such as the death of a corona patient is also a frequent occurrence. According to NIT sources, with the help of this machine, pure oxygen can be given to the patient by collecting oxygen directly from the air. separate cylinder will not be required.
Shibendu Shekhar Roy, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT, said, “Pranayam is a low cost, portable oxygen concentrator machine made with indigenous technology. It is much cheaper than other oxygen concentrators and can be easily transferred. Under his leadership the Department of Mechanical Engineering does this. The work of making the machine started from August last year.
The experimental model was prepared in February this year. Finally, the Durgapur NIT authorities announced that it would be built commercially in early May and it was completed 3 days ago. The air is drawn into the zeolite chamber of the machine in a special way.
From there the oxygen is given directly to the patient by separating the nitrogen from the air. He added that a company has already started work with the permission of NIT to make this oxygen concentrator.
Three more companies have also expressed interest. A total of three companies from Mangalore, Mumbai and Kolkata are in talks to build the oxygen concentrator.
At least there is a good news among all the bad. Kudos to the scientists for the effective outcome in such a crisis moment. So, be positive and keep the hope alive.
