Hlo friends how are you?? Recently I can not continue my blogging because of a little bit busy. But I will try to continue it 😊.

Recently food safety and standard authority of India make guidelines for mentioning probiotics names on food labeling.

Do you know why?

What are probiotics and why are these important πŸ€”

Ok let's start first we have to know about probiotics. Probiotics made of Greek word which means "for life". If we talk about it's definition which was given by FAO(food and agricultural organization) and WHO (world health organization) probiotics are live microbial cultures that beneficially affect the host animal either directly or indirectly, by improving it's intestinal microbial balance.

A selective list of some probiotics

  1. Lactobacillus
  2. Propioni bacterium
  3. Peptostreptococcus
  4. Bacillus
  5. Lactococcus
  6. Enterococcus
  7. Pediococcus
  8. Streptococcal
  9. Bifidobacterium

Are many probiotic which found in many type of fermented and non fermented food.

people only see bacteria or microorganisms as harmful and pathogenic which contaminate or spoil the food. But here probiotics are that type of organism which give beneficial affect to the body.

Let's know some health benefits of probiotics

  • Probiotics directly or indirectly release peptides(defensins and cathelicidins) that interfere with pathogens and prevent body cells. And also suppress the pathogen growth by releasing antimicrobial factors like bacteriocin, defensins, hydrogen peroxide, nitric oxide, etc.
  • Recently, many reports suggest that certain probiotics strains or multi-strain mixture have potent immune modulator activities in diverse disorders like allergic, asthma, atopic dermatitis, etc.

So friends there are many activities which are doing by probiotics and these activities are beneficial for our body health like

Food where we found probiotics

Probiotics in dairy foods

Fermented dairy products are like dahi, buttermilk, acid whey, kefir, cheese, fermented milk etc.

Non-fermented dairy products including probiotic ice cream etc.

Probiotics in non dairy products

Like soya frozen dessert, rice pudding, fruit juices( apple juice, pineapple juice etc.), vegetables juices( tomato juice, cabbage juice, etc.), chocolate etc.

Stay safe, stay healthy

Thank you 😊
