God has given us one mouth and two ears so that we speak less an listen more. There are many people who talk endlessly to drive pleasure. It is only when one stops talking and listen to others that the importance of what others have to say can be understood.
Very often we do not listen to the ideas of others with an open mind. 'WHO IS SPEAKING? WHAT IS HIS OBJECTIVE? Such deep analysis is necessary while we listen to others. Many do not have the maturity to listen objectively. They are not willing to accept what others speak.
We have often seen in our mythological writings depicting Lord Ganesha with huge ears. It is to show that he listens carefully and attentively to the words of others. This shows how a human being should be and what characteristics he should possess. We have always been taught to be a good listener.
A good listener is a person who listens to others patiently and waits for the person speaking to finish. The more patiently we listen to others the better we can act on it. The better we could understand the facts and make further comments on it.
The interpretation of what a person listens to is important. The Buddha once addressed in a gathering. ‘Do not forget to complete your duties before going to sleep., 'he said. The disciples duty was to meditate.
To become a good writer, a person also has to be a good listener. If one listens to what is being said, it leads to effective writing. Until we listen to the one speaking, we cannot implement it in our writing skills. We can mention the facts and details only when we listens to other.
An individual can become a good listener in many forms, a student in class, an employee in his office listening to his boss, an employee in a particular firm listening effectively to his clients. All they have to do is to listen carefully and patiently. Let's make sure that all these concepts do not enter through one ear and go out through the other.
So, the conclusion of my today's writing is that no matter which field we belong, we have to become a good listener. We have to listen to others effectively and patiently, so that the outcome is positive and collectively helps in the development of individual.
