When putting together a solid marketing strategy, don't forget to add images to your website. The importance of photography here cannot be denied. According to statistics, articles with photos attract far more views than articles posted without photos. Undoubtedly, the images are very attractive and will fill your website with colors. This article describes common mistakes  you should avoid when hosting images on your website. Read on to find out more.

#1: Reduce the image size

Most visitors don't wait more than 3 seconds for the images to load on their laptop or desktop computers. And they don't wait more than 5 seconds when using their mobile phones. So, if your images take longer than 5 seconds to launch on these devices, you may lose a lot of prospective customers.

So, what you need to do is reduce the size of the images to 700KB maximum. This makes images  load much faster, regardless of the device you use.

# 2: Rename the file Do not underestimate the importance of renaming the

file. It is not recommended to keep the default name of the image. For search engine optimization, it's a good idea to add key keywords to your photo names.

That said, it's a good idea to write a description and include key keywords for proper optimization. If you do not follow this procedure, search engine crawlers will not index the images in the database.

# 3: Add captions Don't forget to consider the alt tag, just like the

photo. First and foremost, they are photo alternative texts. If you want your website to rank high on major search engines,  add meaningful explanations.

Description must be in English on all  photos. Also, don't add too many keywords or phrases as they will adversely affect your search engine rankings.

# 4: Use the correct file extension.

Make sure your website contains the correct type of image file. Nowadays, you can create images in different formats to suit your needs. However, the most common extensions today are JPG, JPEG, and PNG. PNG is an ideal choice if you want  to maintain  quality no matter how many times you edit and save your photos.

# 5: Don't use distorted images

Image distortion is another common problem that can occur when editing an image. Make sure the image is not stretched. You should always work with the original version of the photo you need. In Photoshop, you can use the preview feature to compare different versions of your photos.

In short, we suggest that you avoid these five common mistakes when it comes to hosting images on your website.
