5. Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind.
Ever had a bad breakup and wished that you could forget everything about your ex? This beautifully portrayed movie, starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet revolves around emotional dilemmas, broken hearts, and the realization that maybe, just maybe, we don't want to forget people, we just want to forget parts of them.
Filled with witty elements throughout the movie, this movie is definitely something you could enjoy with hot coffee, or hey, just a couple of beers. This movie forces us to think what someon else's identity truly means to us and how much we care for it without realizing what we are doing.
IMDb rating - 8.3/10
4. Inception
This masterpiece of a movie, directed by Christopher Nolan, one of the most ingenuous directors out there, circles around a group of people who are trying to plant an idea in someone's mind. This phenomenon is termed βInceptionβ and is thought to be impossible.
So apart from the fact that they're trying to accomplish a task which might as well have been impossible, complications just seem to arise all around them as they execute their plan and catastrophe follows catastrophe.
Considered one of the greatest movie of all time, this movie will amaze you and shock you simultaneously. The open ended approach of this movie has been a topic of high controversy for a long long time.
IMDb rating - 8.8/10
3. Tenet
Yet another masterpiece directed by Christopher Nolan, which depicts a man trying to stop a temporal war which could destroy their planet, while also trying to figure out how to pick a lock(You'll get it when you watch the movie)
The above paragraph may not make much sense to all of you but hey, you will not regret watching this movie.
Basically it's about time reversal and how it could indirectly lead to human extinction. This obviously complicates the movie but makes it more interesting and entertaining. The physics in the movie, though not necessarily accurate, is sure to make you wonder a thousand different thoughts at the simplicity and complexity of it all.
The genius of this movie, like many other masterpiece, is the details. Everytime you watch the movie you notice something new, you hadn't before. If you're a nerd, or like time travel this movie should definitely be on your watch list.
IMDb rating - 7.4
2. Fight Club
Although the interestin casting of this movie is enough to interest any pseudo movie critique, this movie is a lot more than just the brilliant actors in it.
This movie is almost a dark satire comedy. Almost.
Tyler Durden has got big plans. No one knows where he came from, but apparently his true purpose is something wickedly awesome or, to be more precise, something awesomely wicked. All we know is that he makes soaps, among other things, and some might say he acts rather strange sometimes. So who is Tyler Durden?
And when you find out, you'll be too shocked to realize that the bread crumbs were all in front of you but you were just too distracted by Bradd Pitt's physique in the movie. This psychological masterpiece is nothing less than what you expect.
IMDb rating - 8.8/10
1.The Prestige
Two Magicians, two secrets, one trick.
Another Christopher Nolan movie that leaves you more dumbfounded and intrigued, the more you watch it. Starring Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale, as two magician rivals who just can't seem to leave each other in order to prove and perhaps know, who's the better magician.
The movie explores the paths taken by the two magicians in order to be the best. We witness the sacrifice it takes to be the best magician.
The film can be read in several ways and the plot twist at the end will surely have you in surprise and awe.
There is nothing quite like the feeling we get when we put the last piece of the puzzle in its place. And that is what finishing this movie feels like.
