On the onset of this winter season, I was lucky enough to go for a short trip to the mountains near to Kolkata. Its only about 8 hours journey to reach the Ayodhya hills. The journey has been great and the place was a real treat for the eyes and the soul. Now I am gonna share you my three days trip to this beautiful hilly area in West Bengal.
We got up at 5 am in the morning into our car and our journey started from there itself. It was a smooth journey with occasional check ins on the road side Dhabas and restaurants for some rest and refreshments. Then we reached to our destination at about 1 pm. We had our lunch beside our hotel in a small restaurant. The atmosphere is very homely out there and the food is nicely made. You can get roti sabji, dal, fish, meat, egg whatever you want .
After having done our lunch we went to the local places for some side-seeing. We went to see the upper dam which was located quiet near to our hotel. This upper Dam is a huge dam surrounded by mountain. We went there at the time of sunset and it was a wonder to our eyes.
Then while returning we went to another spot where we got to see some beautiful trees and the best thing out there was the raw sugarcane juice that was so lovely. It was very tasty . Then we returned to our hotels buying the samosas and chops from the local shops. When we returned to our hotel , We went out for a brisk walk to the local place just to have a view of the local lifestyle and the people living out there. People get to sleep at about 8 to 9 pm in the night. People are very peaceful and peace loving out there.
The next day we got up at 7 am in the morning and completed our breakfast and went out for our local tour.
Marble lake
At first we went to the marble lake where we enjoyed a lot. The lake is a beautiful sight surrounded by mountains. We sat on the stones beside the lake, shouted to create an echo, danced, sang and played with the little puppies out there. As we were returning we got to drink some glasses of 'Khejur' juice. Its a brilliant thing to enjoy out there. We did some shopping in the nearby shop there.
Lower Dam
This was a brilliant view point . We thoroughly enjoyed the scenery in that place and we also enjoyed some cucumber slices mixed with salt . This was a lovely sight for the tourists.
Lohoria temple
This is a Shiva temple. We went inside and offered prayer to Lord Shiva. This a beautiful temple where you can also get a variety of things in the nearby shops.
Charida village
This is a village which is famous for the masks created by the local people . These masks are beautiful ones available at very affordable prices. There are costly lots also but it depends on the buyer. People are so warm out there. We bought some beautiful masks from that place.
Khairabera Dam
Then we went to this Dam and completed our lunch with some maggie and boiled egg because the resort out there did not allow us to get into the restaurant as we had no pre-booking.
Matha Forest
This was the most adventurous place through which we drove our car. There were every possibility for the elephants to come out any time but we weren't that much lucky. But we saw some foxes out there.
Muruguma Dam
Crossing the Matha forest we went to the Muruguma Dam. This is another thrilling and beautiful place . We had to go through the village which was located inside the forest. The village houses were so beautifully coloured with colorful designs. This was a wonderful experience. This Dam is also known as a suicide point because of its height. But the place is awesome and nobody will feel like commiting suicide if you go there. While returning we enjoyed some panipuris which were so tasty because of the chilli flavour that they used. It was freshly prepared from the village.
Garh Panchkot
The last day while returning to our place we went to Garh Panchkot which is another beautiful place. We had our lunch in the govt guest house and the food was awesome.
So people if you wanna enjoy a short trip to a nearby hill station then don't hesitate to give a visit to this place. Its an awesome place with a very low budget to spent.
