Hello everyone. So today I have come up with a super good book “ A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS”. This book will give you a story you would never have thought about. Its the second book which made me cry. This book is written by Afghan - American author Khaled Hosseini. This book talks about the time when there was war going on in Afghanistan and how so many lives were destroyed because of this. The title of this book was actually from a poem which tells about the beauty of Afghanistan. It's pretty ironic actually how he used the title because in the novel we can see that how this beautiful place was getting destroyed because of the war.
This book revolves around two women - Leila and Mariam. the author presented it so accurately that how women sacrifice their life on a daily basis. There are so many beautiful and truthful quotes in this book that you can't stop yourself from highlighting them.
"Like a compass needle that points north, a man's accusing finger always finds a woman, Always"
This is one of the quote from the book which also tells a major story point. How a women life is controlled first by her own family then by society and last but not least by her own husband. The fact that I learnt was its not necessary that you are going to get the love of your life but surely you are going to meet someone for whom you will be ready to sacrifice everything even yourself. It can come to you in any form you just have to keep an open mind. No matter how much they got hurt, no matter how life was unfair with them they never lost hope and fought. They just never gave up. In between all this war and women injustice the author also focused on a beautiful childhood friendship which turned into a relationship. It's quiet beautiful how can even your immaturity can lead to feelings so true that you just love that person without boundaries and limits.
From other point of view it can also be said that two splendid suns were Mariam and Leila who have been though a lot but never lost hope and courage. So next time if you will think your life is sad and unfair I will highly advice you to read this book.
