This is a continuation of my last post about the wonderful songs that came along with some amazing movies and series. Some of these songs were commercial failures when first released, but their use later in films, TV shows, and series made them popular. It's true, like every piece of great art, good music doesn't have an expiration date.

  • Sixteen Reasons Why I Love You - Connie Stevens

It is so adorable when Connie Stevens lists out sixteen reasons to fall in love in this single. The song was shot again to popularity with it's use in David Lynch's 2001 film Mullholland Drive. Lynch, like Tarantino, is known for utilizing music to supplement the cinematic vision. On that account, the soundscape of Mullholland Drive is also hauntingly beautiful.

  • Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head - B. J. Thomas

The scene with a blissful Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 2 with this song in the background is so nostalgic to watch. This song is an ode to optimism, having an incredible capacity to perk up our mood when we feel low. ‘Raindrops’ is one of the most popular movie songs of all time.

  • Shift - Grizzly Bear

There is a kind of inexplicable pain and sadness in this song that impeccably suits the tale of the dying relationship in the film Blue Valentine.Shift’ is one of the best tracks of Grizzly Bear and it hits you hard with it's soul-stirring music, as if pushing you off a cliff to an ocean of sadness.

  • Sound of Silence - Simon And Garfunkel

Zack Snyder's Watchmen features songs of great artists like Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Simon and Garfunkel, etc. The Sound of Silence has an uncanny history. Following it's commercial failure, the duo Simon and Garfunkel disbanded. But the song turned out to be a classic after getting featured in various films and shows. Later they regrouped following it's success to make good music again. This song has also inspired so many cover versions by various artists, including Disturbed and Pentatonix.

  • Thunder - RY X

'Thunder' is one of my favourite tracks from Dark. The lyrics and music by RY X is pure dope. When you are in the mood of finding new songs, just fish around the Dark's soundtrack to explore songs from the 80's to contemporary indie artists and bands. Take my word for it, it won't disappoint you.

Lemme know if you liked the list. See you with another post. XD
