My Diary (or) Journal

The Bittersweetness Of Keeping A Journal

Hey guys, welcome back!!!
It was during the summer vacation after my 3rd grade that our class tutor told us to keep a journal, to record everything during vacation. Shameless to say, even though I was about 8 years old at that time and I didn't know how to write a single day's diary than keeping a journal the whole summer. But I was worried and wanted to write for the sake of writing, because it was a task given by my favourite teacher (she is still). So, I sought my mother's help. She gave some tips. So, I began writing.…With same statement as the beginning of my everyday diary, "I woke up in the early mornin'.... Did my daily morning chores.... Had my breakfast.... Went to play in the neighborhood (any particular name of the game).... Ate lunch... Again playing... Then at night, had dinner, later went to sleep." There ended my one day-diary. That whole summer I wrote like that, except for the days I went to my uncles' houses and me lying as the time goes ‘caz getting bored of writing the same thing (I was a pro at lying about then). Thinking back, I can laugh at it now. But that was me at that time, not knowing what to write in a diary, seeking the help of my mom and writing the same thing. But the unexpected thing here is; when school opened and I was in 4th grade, also the first day of reopening, our tutor called my name and told the whole class that my diary was the best of all of them. I was quite confused than surprised ’caz I was not at all the best in our class. Anyhow, she gave me a prize, a notebook, in which she wrote in the very first page, like, "Diary is the Hallmark of a Neat and Orderly Life". What made me happier than getting the appraisal of a teacher in something I did casually is the fact that I got a notebook with her beautiful handwriting😊(even though I didn't quite get those words meaning at that time). I kept that notebook untouched for a long time.
Don't expect me to say that that's where I got the inspiration to write my own diary😜. The excitement of writing a diary ignited again when I read 'Anne Frank's Diary' at my mid-teens. But that spark extinguished soon when my sister saw my diary and told me that I am imitating Anne Frank by giving my diary a name... So it fell apart. I never tried to write a diary again or simply to say I never felt that I need one. But when I turned one and twenty, something huge happened in my life...making me choose and decide for the first time. A milestone decision which my simple mind never anticipated. That's when I felt that I need to keep a journal. Soon, I began writing, wrote about my past and present at the same time and still continuing. It was also at that time when I fully embraced my teacher's words.

Now that you know my journey towards keeping a journal, let me get to the very adjective I used in the title. The word ‘bittersweetness’ goes for which, when you read your journal after a long time. It is when we recollect, all those bitter and sweet moments come rushing onto your mind.
But for me, as I am recollecting my past for writing my diary bit by bit, all those beautiful and painful memories are rushing onto my mind recently. But, the thing is I am quite enjoying it, not brooding over my past mistakes, but making the present quite special with all those tiny, funny moments.
From my personal story, I only have one thing to say to you, if u have any regret for not writing your diary earlier.... don't. It's never too late, start at any moment, go for your emotions, one day you will want to look back!!!

Guys, Thanks for reading.... Also Thanks for giving much views and likes for my earlier blogs... Keep Going. Give a like for this one too!!

One more thing, this blog got too big. It was never been my intention. I tried to shorten, but I don't want to 😊. Thanks again for your support.

Indeed a well written blog👍 I also used to write about my daily chores in my diary and hence had so many during my childhood times and still I write. I also got inspired by Anne Frank's diary and then started creating various works of my own✌️ I found your blog very relatable to me😄🙌
