Poco has confirmed the launch of the Poco X5 Pro in India on February 6, a day before the debut of the OnePlus 11 globally. Poco has revealed the Poco X5 Pro's design, and the phone is confirmed to carry a 108-megapixel primary camera on the back.
The primary rear camera will be accompanied by two more camera sensors, but their details remain unclear. The phone will also support 5G.
The official poster reveals a yellow colour unit, which is synonymous with the brand's colour. The phone appears to have flat edges, similar to Poco's new-gen M-series smartphone design.
Poco shared the announcement days after a Poco X5 Pro was spotted on a Hungarian retail website, Cityel. The website also lists a vanilla Poco X5, but it seems Poco is only introducing the Pro model in the country for now. As for the X5 Pro, the smartphone is also listed in a blue colour, which may come to the Indian market as well.
In terms of specifications, the Poco X5 Pro is said to feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Full-HD+ resolution (1080x2400 pixels) and a Snapdragon 778G chipset. This chipset by Qualcomm isn't exactly new, though it is capable of handling day-to-day tasks. It also powers some notable mid-budget phones, such as Samsung Galaxy M52 5G and iQOO Z6 Pro. The chipset can also run moderately heavy games without stutters.
Coming to the camera, the back may include an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel sensor, likely for macro photography. The front panel will reportedly house a 16-megapixel selfie camera inside the centrally-aligned hole-punch cutout.
Poco generally boasts its phone's fast performance, and the Hungarian retailer notes the charging speed at 67W. The Poco X5 Pro may come with 5,000mAh, as the website suggests. Lastly, the box may include a transparent silicone case. The pricing remains unclear, but going by the specifications, the Poco X5 Pro may cost under Rs 25,000.
Poco's strategy has been more or less the same since it arrived in the Indian smartphone market in 2018 with the Poco F1. The company prioritises eye-catching hardware at an aggressive price. This was the case with the Snapdragon 870-powered Poco F4 5G last year. The phone's top 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is currently selling for Rs 29,999. However, internally, some users may be happy with the software experience, as the company is relatively slower than other OEMs when it comes to rolling out Android updates. For instance, some Poco F4 units started receiving the Android 13 update last week.
