Once upon a time, there was a very big tree in a forest. It  was very good shelter of a flock of geese. The geese were leading safe life in it. One of these geese was intelligent. This goose was of an old age.

One day, he was sitting in deep thought on tree done. He noticed ‘suddenly’ that a small creeper has sprouted under the tree. He informed to the other geese regarding it, “Are you all seeing that creeper ? Let us all destroy it.”

“Why ?" asked the remaining geese with big surprise.

They said collectively, “It is small, how can it harm us ?” The wise, old goose answered that the small creeper will soon grow strong and thick. At this, all the geese could understand. Then , once again, the  old goose hinted about the danger of the creeper. He said , “It will make possible to someone to climb this tree. A hunter climb up and kill us.”

The old wise goose tried very hared but the remaining were not ready to understand the matter. They answered, “Well there's no hurry. We shall see.”

These geese did not destroy the creeper at the right time. After some time they forgot the suggestion of the old goose. In between, this time creeper grew young and became stronger and stronger day-by-day in the from of a thick- rope.

One day in the morning, these geese had gone out in search of food. meanwhile a hunter came to the forest. He saw that very big tree and murmured to himself, “It seems, the wild geese live on it. When they return in the evening, I will catch them,” The hunter climbed up the tree through the creeper. He spread his net and came down the tree and went away.

In the evening, when the geese came back, they did not notice the net and got trapped. They tried very hard to get out of the net but failed. “Help ! Help !" Together cried the geese. “Don't show your concern now. Long time ago, I advised you all to destroy this creeper, but you all did not pay any attention. Now, the hunter will come again in the morning, ”the old goose said.

“We were extremely foolish”, wept the birds and requested the old wise goose to explore a solution to get free from the net.

Old goose thought deeply and said, "When the hunter comes, you all need to pretend only to be dead and just lay down still. The hunter generally does not harm dead birds. He will only throw all of us considering his dead birds one-by-one to the ground. Then it will not be so easy for him to come down from the tree when the last of you have been thrown down, you all will quickly get up and fly away.

Now, the geese were highly relieved and out of tension. Next morning, the hunter came back and looked at the geese. "All the geese have died, " he murmured. He threw all the geese one-by-one out of the net.

The birds lay down still until the last one had been thrown down. At the end, all the geese flapped their wings and flew away together. The hunter was highly surprised for a moment but seeing this incident. He watched all the geese with blank eyes fly away.
