Yes, you read that right. Many of us think we need someone else's support to move forward. But no, my friend! It's you who can make a difference. No one will work for your part. We have to it our self and sooner we will realize, much better for us.
There will be many people in our way who will put is down. But they don't know what magic we possess. What wonder we can do. So let no one, I repeat, let no one tell you what you can do and what you can't. The power lies in you to change the world for better.
I have heard many stories but today I’ll tell you my personal favorite. In New Delhi, there was my friend who initially had nothing. I mean NOTHING. He had no support from his family and friends. He was a student in my class and hardly talked to someone. When asked what is going on his life, he said all okay. But everyone knew he is not. His parents used to come at school asking for fees wave off. And he did get it because he was fairly a good student.
One day, it happened to be his birthday. How did we know his birthday? Because all the birthdays were hanged at class bulletin board so we could wish each other. It was a ritual that birthday boy/girl would come up and address the class what he wished for, what he is grateful for and what he hopes in the future.
He was shy at first. I could understand fear of public speaking as I have the same. But once he started, he gave such a brilliant speech that made everyone of us jaw dropped. I still remember his words. He said – I would not be as privileged as you guys. I don’t have enough financial support from my parents. And that’s what I’m grateful for. I know worth of each penny. Many of don’t realize what we have until its gone. But I’m myself. That’s what I’m grateful for. All I wish for my parent’s well-being. That’s what I wish and will forever wish for. I promise on my birthday, someday I’ll address people on a large scale. Making my parents proud.
And when he ended his speech, My god! There was round of a applause and got a standing ovation. Now few days, he was called as a chief guest in school and told the same story. The teacher stood there with twinkling eyes and clapped the loudest.
