In this poem the 'Rose' is a symbolism of a young women, 'the invisible worm' is a symbolism of memories that never fade, and 'his dark secret love' talks about her lover who has not appeared as a person in this poem but has his role in her memories.
Their secret love destroyed her life. It is all about the dark secret love of him making her life miserable. Love that happens to have the joy of deep love in her bed.
The storm that wails and brings melancholy flies in the night uncovers her memories of her dark love like a worm that digs the earth which, is invisible to us. The poet feels sad for the girl who struck down in her woe past. The poet calls "art sick. " meant to be the love is sick mentally that is invisible.
To be clear the young women questions that will her life destroys by her lover who appears in her never fading memory. The memory suffused with joy that she finds in her bed with him. the stormy night uncovers her dark secret love for him like a worm that digs the earth which is invisible to us.
At last the poet calls the young women "O Rose" your life is now sick of him. That the poet feels sad for the young women's future is now sick mentally and emotonally. Were the question is un answered.
The dark love can be assumed to be the one sider love or a secret love or an affair or it also might be a true love that is now unveiled. No matters what the love that blinds the young women's heart where she is has no choice but question a guarantee future with him.
