The plot is simple. Ram and Janu are classmates. Ram adores Janu, But he lacks the bravery to express his feelings. But they gradually began to fall in with each other. They both vowed to meet at the end of the academic year, but that never happened. Years later Ram and his friends organize a reunion and Janu, who is now married, travels from Singapore to attend that event. Ram lacks the guts to confront her, but both speak slowly. They now have a few hours to spend together before Janu has to return to Singapore. Small/Big surprises and shocks occur when they converse.
The film slowly moves forward until Janu bids farewell to Ram and returns to Singapore.
If they write a screenplay exactly as I predicted. It will be a flop. In a pattern, the plot progresses from the present to the past and then back to the present, and when they chat, the flashback sequences are presented. The director has woven the scenes together so well that we become completely immersed in the film.
Once we become emotionally attached to the characters, there is no turning back. We begin to sense the character's anguish and joy. The movie's music and images are outstanding. The cinematographer was able to breathe new life into the film. And with the excellent music, it simply elevates the viewing experience to the next level. It's correct. that it's slow-moving, but the players must be commended for keeping the audience seated.
Both the performer(Vijay Sethupathi) and the actress (Trisha) deserve recognition. They have brought to life the characters Ram and Janu, who will live on in the hearts of the audience for the rest of their lives. Both are natural actors with honest emotions. The film's strength is its acting, which is supported by the soundtrack, cinematography, and narrative.
Even the supporting cast has contributed significantly to the success of this film. This film will go on to become a cult classic in the coming centuries, as well as a lesson for directors who want to make films in the future.
INTERESTING FACT:
you pay close attention to the 96 movie song βKadhale kadhaleβ two strange sounds may be heard in the background, one of which is from a whale and the other from a bird. The poem is based on the love story between a whale and a little bird, according to the composer(Govind Vasanth). They can never be together in this life!! The same holds for the film. Ram and Janu can't be together in this world.
My rating is 9/10 (must watch)
