" Imagine your life without semiconductor" someone saying that to you. Most of the people will say “Are you out of mind?” “What type of question is this?" ,But when you rephrase this question as “Imagine your life without your day to day technology” .You and everyone else will have the reaction will be "we can't imagine our life without those technology.
Mostly all the technology in the world depends on semiconductor. Your A.C. , refrigerator, television, washing machine, Television, Smartphone almost everything runs on semi- conductor. Now just imagine a modern life without this technology.
Semiconductor, a wonder which brought revolution in the electronics was first discovered by Karl Ferdinand Braun in the year 1874 when he developed the first semiconductor device, crystal detector and by Jagdish Chandra Bose in 1901,when he made radio crystal detector. Since then and now, semiconductor is an important part of human being.
During Covid-19 induced lockdown, there was a huge demand of electronic devices and thus to fulfill those demands there were a need of that large number of semiconductor to cop up the demand ,this there started to begin the shortage of Semiconductor chips. Thus supply disruption of the semiconductors begun. Many conpanies from carmaker to electronic goods haven been forced to hold the production. India later in 2021 , according to some news sources is ping to deal with Taiwan amid sorting the semiconductor crisis in India. Taiwan is the leading producer of semi - conductor in the whole world and it's fullfill the global need of Semiconductor. After the trade war between US and China and the covid-19 , India has a chance to become a supplier of Semiconductor in the global market, for that India is having multi billion deal with Taiwan to use its technology and to develop semiconductor ,atleast for its self sufficiency of not for global supply.
PM Narendra Modi announced $10 billion for semiconductor scheme, where India expressed its intent to become a serious player in this $500 billion annual bigger game. Major challenge India will be facing is China as we all know the history of China and Taiwan as China says that it is the part of its province. Even though after inking deal with Taiwan ,India need to have as high tech campuses as in Taiwan. India have to fight different odds as to become one of the global player in supply of Semiconductor.
