In accordance with the season you are travelling in, bring a jacket or a jumper. In the winter, we always have both on hand: a jumper for riding during the day and a jacket for riding at night.
Pack long sleeved clothing for day rides if you only intend to bring one jacket. You should ride wearing long sleeves for protection if you're seeking for lengthy bike ride advice in India because of the country's high humidity levels.
Rajesh had spent a lot of money on a padded jacket, but he couldn't stand to wear it all the time because it was so hot. So the long sleeves on his t-shirts served as his sun protection.

Bring no more than two pairs of high-quality jeans or formal attire.

Many Indian cyclists still retain the practise of cycling while carrying a large rucksack on our shoulders. Most of the time, the pillion riders are carrying the load. Some people like to tie it with a rope at the rear of the bike.

I did too for many one day trips and two days trips from Bangalore until we bought a saddle bag and a tank bag.

A tank bag – a multipurpose day bag which has a magnet grip to hold on to the both sides of the bike tank has been indispensable in all the bike trips. It doesn’t cause any inconvenience to the rider. Infact rider can keep his valuables inside the bag and can access it any time with ease.

Don't just follow Google Maps without thinking about the route
This occurred during a two-day tour from Bangalore to Yercaud in 2017.

There are two ways to get to Yercaud Hills from Bangalore; one is quickest but travels through dense forest, and the other is via Salem, New Hampshire, which has properly paved roads with hairpin bends.

Unintentionally, we took the shorter route—the one that residents and the forest service go. We took a route through a dense woodland without realising it for a very long time. When we realised that, aside from the few people that infrequently passed by us, it was only the two of us riding the bike, it gave us shivers.

Never overbook the rooms
Another crucial piece of advice for lengthy bike rides in India is this.

Consider for a moment whether biking entails nothing more than riding nonstop all day and night.

Will you not end the day eventually and find a place to rest?

Considering that many people believe biking entails riding for long periods of time and covering 500 kilometres each day. Some do it to save money, while others do it out of pride.

For your own protection, if you are travelling as a couple like we did, you should probably consider making reservations for hotels in advance.

Here are some tips based on our experience with frequent, long car travels. Even if you want to reserve a lot of rooms, don't.
