M. Jaishankar, also known as Psycho Shankar, was an Indian criminal, sexual predator, and serial killer who lived from 1977 to February 27, 2018. He is remembered for a string of rapes and killings that occurred between 2008 and 2011. About 30 rape, murder, and robbery crimes are thought to have implicated him across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. He had been charged with at least 19 female murders at the time of his death. Jaishankar was taken into custody by Indian police and imprisoned in Bangalore, where he was given a mental health diagnosis. Afterward, he committed suicide. In February 2018, he attempted to escape from prison but was unsuccessful.
Around 2008, Jaishankar began engaging in illegal activity. His first recorded crime occurred on July 3, 2009, when he attempted to rape and kill P. Shyamala, age 45, in Perandahalli. By August 2009, he had sexually assaulted 12 women, killed them, and assaulted another 6 women. He was always seen with a black handbag. He slaughtered everybody who defied him using the machete he had in this backpack. On highways near dhabas (roadside restaurants), he would kidnap sex workers, rape them, and then brutally execute them. He also targeted rural women who lived in farm cottages.
Jaishankar made an unsuccessful attempt to break out of Bangalore Central Prison on February 25, 2018. He was kept in solitary prison after this scheme went awry.
He then killed himself on February 27 by cutting his own throat with a razor blade that he had bought from a barber the day before.
Around 2:30 a.m., while doing their routine rounds, the jail personnel discovered him lying in a pool of blood and gave him first assistance. He was later moved to Victoria Hospital, where he was declared dead at 5:10 a.m.
All Karnataka police stations received a red notice from the police, warning women to exercise caution when travelling alone. A reward of 500,000 was offered for information that would result in his capture. To forecast his subsequent acts, they also examined his personality and life trajectory. In addition, the police published 75,000 brochures with several photographic profiles of Jaishankar and 10,000 wanted posters in Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. Along with Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Maharashtra also received these posters and pamphlets.
Son of Maari Muthu, Jaishankar originated in Tamil Nadu's Salem district's Kanniyanpatti hamlet. He was said to be married and have three daughters as of May 2011. He began working as a truck driver.
