Indain Bread With Wheat And Gram Flour

Hello dear readers

Welcome to another blog. I hope you all are doing great. Since I have not shared any recipe from a long time, I thought to share one today. We have a rich variety of Indain breads like naan, chapati, pratha etc. Each has a different taste and the method of making also varies to some extent.

The required ingredients to make missa pratha are-

Wheat flour- 2 cup

Chickpea flour- 1 cup

Carom seeds- 1 teaspoon

Chopped Green chilly- Β½

Finely chopped onion- β…“cup

Asafoetida- 1 pinch

Turmeric powder- 1 pinch

Salt- as per taste

Oil- 3 teaspoon for dough and some to cook the prathas.

Method to make- Take a bowl and add wheat flour, chickpea flour and carom seeds. Now add finely chopped onion, green chilly, turmeric powder, asafoetida, salt and oil. Mix it well. Now add water to knead the dough (usually Β½ cup of water is enough but you can alter the amount accordingly). Add a little amount of water at once and knead a soft dough.  Now cover the dough and keep it for ten minutes.

After ten minutes, take the prepared dough and make round balls of medium size. Now roll them out one by one using flour. Now heat a tawa on medium flame and then place the rolled pratha on it. When it gets cooked a little from one side then flip it and apply some oil and press it with the help of a spatula to make it crispy. Then again flip it over and use some oil and press it. Do the same with rest of the prathas too. Very delicious missa prathas are ready. You can serve it with butter, chutney, pickle or any vegetable of your choice.

Additional tips-

  • If the dough becomes sticky then add some wheat flour.
  • Do not keep the flame too low or too high.
  • After making one pratha make sure that the tawa does not have any burnt particle.
  • Roast the edges properly so that the prathas are evenly cooked.

If you want like to consume oil then you can cook it without using oil, just like the way we make chapatis and enjoy.

Thank you for reading this recipe and if you like it then show your support and do share your feedback in the comment section below. You can also check the recipe of khakhra- a lite and healthy snack.

Stay safe, healthy and happy.
