Green Tea- Know The Benefits

Many people are habitual of drinking tea everyday. There are different varieties of tea available. Black tea, herbal tea, white tea, green tea, masala chai are some of the types of tea. Most of these come from same plant (Camellia sinensis) but they are processed using different methods which enable them to have different taste and properties.  Green tea is made from unoxidised leaves. In comparison to other types of tea like black tea or oolong tea, green tea is less processed. Due to this reason, it has high amount of antioxidants which helps in reducing fat. It also decreases the risk of several types of heart diseases and cancer. Let us know the benefits of drinking green tea in detail-

  • Helps in Reducing fat- The consumption of green tea increases the process of fat burning and also increase the rate of metabolism. This helps in reducing fat.
  • Helps in preventing cancer- The abnormal and uncontrollable growth of cells in the body cause cancer. Green tea is a source of antioxidants which remove these kind of cells from the body. Several researches conducted on green tea have shown that it is helpful in fighting against breast cancer, prostate cancer and colorectal cancer.
  • Improve Brain Functions- Green tea has the properties to maintain the activities of brain. It contains near about two to four percent of caffeine which acts as a stimulator for the nervous system. It keeps the mood refreshed. 
  • Cholesterol Level- Green tea improves the insulin sensitivity and decreases the level of blood sugar. It also helps in maintaining the cholesterol level which helps in preventing type 2 diabetes and heart diseases.

When to drink- There is no fixed time to consume green tea. It can be taken in daytime. It you are consuming it to reduce weight then you can drink it after having your meal.

Summing Up-

Green tea has many benefits but it is important to note that excessive amount of green tea can be harmful as it can damage the liver so do not consume more than two cups of green tea in a day. It is not advised to take green tea empty stomach. Before having it, you can have some nuts or snacks.
