Welcome to another blog, my dear readers. I hope you all are doing great and enjoying this lovely life.

Our bodies are capable of performing all the complex functions easily. We all know that all the activities of our body whether voluntary or non voluntary are possible because of the BRAIN. Brain is the part of our central nervous system (CNS) along with the spinal cord. There are three parts of brain- forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain. Our brain has four lobes which are responsible for different functions. Though the parts of brain work integrated but different parts are specialized in specific functions. The cerebral cortex has sensory area, motor area and the areas which are neither sensory nor motor, such areas are known as association areas and these are involved in complex functions. In this blog, I am going to write about the four lobes and their main functions.

Frontal Lobe- As its name defines, it is present at the front and is responsible for higher cognitive functions. All the planning, execution, reasoning, problem solving and motor functions are controlled by the frontal lobe. It is the largest lobe of the human brain.

Along with this, the left side of this lobe has Broca's Area. Broca's area is the speech production area of the brain.

Parietal Lobe- It is located at the upper back of the barin. It is mainly responsible for somatosensory information, touch sensation (pain, pressure) etc. The posterior parietal lobe helps in visual spatial processing, it means it helps in understanding where an object is.

Occipital Lobe- It has the primary visual cortex. All the visual information is received by the occipital lobe from the lateral geniculate nucleus of the thalamus by this lobe through optic tract. It is the smallest lobe.

Temporal Lobe- The primary auditory cortex is present in the temporal lobe. The inferotemporal area is responsible for object recognition. Whatever we see, it is recognised by this along with the occipital lobe.

The left side of temporal lobe has Wernicke's area. This area is responsible for speech comprehension.

Thank you for reading this far and if you like it then please let me know in the comment section below. I have written related to such topic after a very long time. The topic just came into my mind and I started writing the blog. You can also check about spinal cord health

Stay safe, healthy and happy.
