Is Having Self-doubt A Bad Thing?

I know what you are thinking!

Self-confidence, determination, persistence and hard work are the keys that seal success.

However, amidst all these positive feelings & expressions, we seem to ignore the most common feeling felt at one point in time or another; self-doubt.

If you are a newbie across any field, you're bound to come face-to-face with all your fears and self-doubts one time or another.

Let's take my example for a moment.

Imagine being a writer in a world filled with hundreds of thousands of established & esteemed writers who have not only created a good name for themselves but also achieved financial success and freedom.

If you are a writer, reading their works would certainly itch a feeling of self-doubt in your mind.

β€˜Am I good enough?’

It's certainly one of the most common feelings felt by every one of us.

If we are to give it a certain meaning, Self-doubt is a feeling that troubles your psyche, shakes your confidence and makes you rethink everything you're doing in your life. Come to think about it, self-doubts aren't necessarily restricted to professional profiles. we encounter them in our day-to-day lives.

Having felt an attraction to a special someone but feeling stuck and unable to express yourself to them because you lack self-confidence & fear rejection. Self-doubt is the reason many smart kids refrain from participating in classroom discussions, debates and much more.

But, we ain't here to pull out the demons of self-doubt. The title focuses on whether self-doubts are as bad as they seem to be.

I am going to answer just that.

But first, picture yourself in this situation:

You are self-confident, self-relying and self-satisfied.

You're at the top of your field and your happiness knows no bounds.

You have a loving girlfriend, a happy family and friends at your beck and call.

Did this feed your ego yet?

Thing is, when you feel that you are at the top, you might just stop trying to improve yourself.

You will begin to feel above others, develop an attitude and might even tread into the oceans of over-confidence.

That's where someone else, someone hardworking, someone more deserving would come in and swap all your success to their court.

Wow, that was a bummer!

Pangs of self-doubts, just a small pinch induce a fear, a much-needed fear in your mind to get you trotting and self-improving each and every day.

Let me mould a famous statement for your benefit:

A little self-doubt never harms. It's when this self-doubt replaces your confidence is when you would hear the danger bells ringing in your mind.

So, was I able to help you see such a negative aspect like self-doubt in a positive light?

Tell me in the comments and help me get rid of my pangs of self-doubt!

If you liked this blog, share this with three others and ask those three to share it with other three people.

See you in the next one!
