You might have came across some weirdly written names or a beautiful art work like something on the wall arround the street, sometimes it is colourful other times it is just written with black spray paint. I always wondered why do these people write their name on the walls ? What does this mean ? Who are these people? If such questions ever came to your mind then my friend you are reading the right blog . 

This is called 'GRAFFITI'. 

The dictionary definition of Graffiti is 

"writing or drawings scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public place.”

Let me make it easier for you, Graffiti is simply a part of typography as it includes alphabets and  even numbers written in an artistic form, it is considered as an illigal art form but in some cases Graffiti is commercialised for brands making it leagal . Usually it is written in such a way that only people who have knowledge about the it are able to read it but that doesn't mean you or another can't read it , you can it's just that you need little practice and time to understand it. 

Graffiti and Hip Hop:

Graffiti art form belongs to Hip Hop culture, more precisely it is a sub-hip hop culture . Mostly all graffiti artist belongs and have deep roots or heart attached to the hip hop culture.

Vandalism and Graffiti:

Graffiti can be understood as antisocial behaviour performed inorder to gain attention or as a form of thrill seeking but it also can be understood as an expressive art form. 

Graffiti is considered as vandalism and an act of punishable  crime in many countries including USA, UK, GERMANY , EUROPE and many more . Initially graffiti was used by street gangs to mark their territorial area or as an indication and a communication techniques to gang related activities.

It is also addressed as major vandalising  problem in industrially grown countries.

History of Graffiti:

Graffiti have its roots stright back to Ancient Greek age . Back then people used to carve on the rocks just like how spray paints are used today. It was a mode of showing dominance . Many large sized   penis  was drawn to advertise prostitution and domination .

Ancient History of Graffiti is quite different from what we see as graffiti now. 

Nevertheless Graffiti is an art form just like any other and is also loved by many people . 

GRAFFITI art form is mainly an act of expression for societal issues and freedom .
