It appears that the directors understood that people were tired of seeing certain films. Nowadays, most films use a lot of wire work, science fiction, etc., and are frequently iced with pointless or foreshadowing backstories. For instance, the troublesome teenage daughter, who isn't present here, or the lovely girlfriend who delivers the inspirational speeches.
John Wick doesn't contain any of that. John Wick doesn't really offer much to the plot; there is no character growth; no unnecessary characters or backstory; no misplaced drama; no misplaced humour; and there isn't much visual candy. Action, action, and more action are what John Wick gives. In actuality, it is one continuous action sequence with a few extra lines and close-ups. That, however, is not a problem.
John Wick's tale of retaliation is quite straightforward. What makes it unique if it can be summed up as "Keanu gets angry and shoots bad guys"? Chad Stahelski, the director, is a stunt specialist, and boy does it show because the film's biggest selling point is a few truly virtuoso action moments with expert choreography. It doesn't employ quick cuts or unsteady cameras like modern action films do, so the audience can actually see what's happening.
The Matrix (1999) to John Wick (2014), another action-packed, fast-paced, and entertaining movie of a kind I've never seen before, is Keanu Reeves' best revenge picture of 2014. It's a very enjoyable, uncomplicated action film with an 80s vibe. It's good to see Keanu taking on these kinds of jobs once more. My personal favourite Keanu Reeves film is this one. What a wonderful action packed, blood packed picture, Keanu Reeves is a bad ass. This is a great good example of how to make an action movie, and movies should take note, especially with the garbage we get these days like Escape Plan Bullet to the Head. This movie, in my opinion, is the best action movie
I absolutely adore this film, and I believe that its creators have created a fantastic action thriller. There are other aspects of the film that I adore as well. I even believe that Keanu Reeves' 2013 film 47 Ronin pales in comparison to John Wick. I particularly adore Adrianne Palicki's performance as Ms. Perkins in this film. She played the most memorable female assassin I have ever seen, and I believe she did one of the finest jobs portraying and acting the part. Ms. Perkins helped me realise and was an inspiration to me that many women prefer to work as female assassins for the mob. Many female actors have played assassins, but I've never seen one.
