 VIRUMAN MOVIE REVIEW:

With Viruman, director Muthaiya returns with another action drama set in the southern hinterland of Tamil Nadu. This time, the action will focus on his father-son relationship. The film begins with a boy chasing his father Muthupandi (Prakash Raj) who is a tough shirdar with a knife in hand. A man finds out that he is responsible for the death of his wife (Saranya Ponvanan) and that is why his son goes into a murderous rage and does not want to live with him. And years later, as a young man, Vilman (Karti effortlessly slipped into a role like Partivelan Wright) wants his father to pay for it.

On the surface, Vilman's story has all the suspense needed for an emotional drama, but Muthaiya's general writing doesn't detract from the film's ability to do more than can hardly be seen. The screenplay is not only formulaic but lazily written. It's a very hands-on script, where plot developments are predictable even if he's a mile away. Whenever conflict promises to add some heartache to this familiar tale, Muthia settles it in the next few scenes.Let's take a look at the female protagonist Tenu's opening her scene (Aditi her Shankar debuting with her confidence). She is shown as someone who has her affection for Muthupandi despite being a man who is difficult to like. I think this equation between them will be a challenge for Wilman, who is in love with her and wants to marry her, but thanks to a convenient plot development, it's possible to avoid the characters changing allegiances in just a few scenes. As can be seen, the subplot involving the friction between Wilmann and MLA (GM Thunder) is similarly resolved in a simple manner. The less said about the antagonist (RK Suresh), the better.

What works is largely due to the actors imbuing flesh and blood into characters written in one dimension. Like Prakash Raj, Muiandi's negative traits are seen as a thing of the past, making him someone who can give him a chance for redemption, especially in the final part. Raj Kiran and Karunas bring some seriousness to their purely functional roles, while Soori cracks a few one-liners that hit the mark and make us smile. I have a rudimentary knowledge of the technical side, but even they feel generic.Selvakumar SK's visuals have a color palette commonly seen in modern rural movies, and Yuvan Shankar Raja , contributed with some catchy tunes and an approximate score.
