This is Yoo Young-chul and he has become of the south Korea infamous in serial killer around 2003-2005 who born in 1970 April 18th.
This man would leave a city in fear, a national press hungry for answers, and police refusing to acknowledge they have a serial killer on their hands and his weapon of choice is homemade hammer.
In a case full of some of the most shocking twist and turns you ever seen.
But yoo young chul is no stranger to breaking law before he became a cold blood murder. He already came with a pretty disturbing rap sheet. And prison time history is uneventful. Let dive into Korean man who ate 26 people. He was also known as Raincoat killer.
South korea 2004 owner of several massage parlors noticed a suspicious familiar pattern. Some of the girls in his employment appeared to be going missing, as working girls its no surprise that they were not noticed as missing by family or friends as many of them lived isolated. This made easier targets for him. Eventually, the alarm bell rings when the massage parlor owner receives a call from a gentle man requiring services of one of his girls. Normally this wouldn’t cause a alarm, but this call came from the phone of one of the missing girl themselves.
An operation begun to fool the caller into meeting the girl which was set up by the police. And he walked straight into their trap. As he arrived at the location, he was taken onto the custody, but what police thought was just a case kidnapping. It turned out to uncover one of the most horrific killing ever committed. Unbelievably during questioning, he admitted to taking lives of over 20 people, most of them were either prostitute or elderly rich victims. He showed the place where he buried the bodies. What can lead someone to commit such terrible act on another person? Well this story starts with when Young-chul was a only child and his upbringing was not without a tragedy setting. He was born in poverty and had a difficulty early life with other kids at school mocking him for his family low class. Because some of his victims were healthy, its believed that it was his social status which eventually lead a hatter for those who was much better off. He and his siblings were ended abandoned by their mother early in life ended up living with grandmother. This made his father to take his children’s with his set-mother home. This was not happy home as his step-mother was very cruel and violent. Then his father passed away in 1985 in accident. From he tried to change his life so he decided to work hard and succeed in life. But after applying art school he was rejected. By 1988 he eventually settle for technical school that would accept him with qualification he had. But instead of studying hard he discovered a new way to make money fast in illegal way. At the age of 18 he was caught stealing from neighbor who is wealthy and he was sent to juvenile detention center. He was not able to attend the class and he drop out from school. From here his crime escalated rapidly stealing on expensive items, cash and cars. In 1991 he was stealing car from his owner and caught and this time he would face prison. And spend 10 months. Despite of his record his girlfriend accepted him and married and had a son together. Instead of enjoying Young-chul returned to his known job stealing again and caught and spent prison for eight months. He was diagnosed with epilepsy (fits). So far all his crime was theft and didn’t hurt anyone other than insurance company. He upgrade himself from car stealing to selling pornography and was sent prison for 2 years and again 3 years behind bars. His wife stood by his side while raising his sons. In year 2000 he was caught for raping 15 yr old girl and sent back to prison for another three and half years causing his wife to finally file for divorce. Upon getting release after spending life in prison his pathway has changed and lead the country in shockwaves griped with fear. After his wife divorce his hatred towards women increased leading his mind full of dark and dangerous. He had permission to visit his sons. Hatred towards his wife leads him to become curel and ended up in ruthless act by killing his wife and son using hammer which is 4 kg. Later he admitted could not carry this ruthless act in some kind of moral stance. But he could not stand when get his next target. He built his own weapon a hammer packed well enough to kill with long handle along with knife and gloves. To get practiced and test his tool he choose street dogs….
