Welcome all readers.
Today I would like to discuss the value of having a paw-friend. Yes, I mean a pet.
I have always been extremely petrified of animals, especially dogs. I never visited anyone who had a pet in their homes. If I had to, they were forced to tie the pet or shut them in a room.
But as they say, you should never be judgmental unless to are in that situation. Now I feel very bad about my behavior towards the loving animals.
This transition in me happened a few months back. My family has always insisted on getting a dog, but I was always against it. Though the reason was my fear, but always focused on the responsibility of an additional member. But an incident happened which changed my views and my life forever.
In January 2021, one day our neighbor got a little she-puppy and gave to us to play as it was supposed to be adopted by a family the next day. So we agreed as my family loves dog. The whole day, that cute black Dachshund puppy who was almost a month old played with us the entire day.
The next morning, the family came and took it away. We were very sad but wished her good-bye. But some byes are Not forever. The second day, the family called and said that the pup is constantly crying, neither sleeping nor eating anything. So we will return it to you.
Our neighbor's asked if we will take care of it because they are all office going and the pup was small to be alone. We happily accepted the offer and the puppy arrived. To our surprise, she played all day, slept properly and ate to her heart's content. When our neighbor came to pick her up in the evening, she started crying again and did not leave.
From that day she has become a part of my family. And she chose us to be hers. She found us and did not go to anyone else. We named her “Sophie”.
She is 6 months old now. And the amount of love she gives us is immeasurable. She cares for each one of us, greets every morning as if we were lost in the night. Dogs really take your heart.
For me, when I was so scared of her, now the situation is totally turned.
Yes, responsibility cannot be ignored, she have to be taken care of like a small child for first few months, but after that it is easy because they are habit forming creatures. Whatever you make them habitual of in the first month, they will follow. So you can make them adapt to your lifestyle easily. They demand nothing except love. Playing with a pet is beneficial for the mental and physical health.
So if anyone of you is planning to have a pet and is confused or scared, I would say get a breed which is easy to care for in your circumstance- size of house, number of hours you can give to play, walks routine etc. as each breed has its own requirements.
They really bring out the best in humans. Pets are the best friend we can have who love unconditionally.
