Hello dear readers
Welcome to my blog.
In this blog I shall discuss what all food did I offer to the Ganpati and few recipes.
I prefer homemade preparations as much as possible for three reasons:
~ It gives delight to do something for Him
~ A personal touch is added to every dish
~ We can be sure of the purity of the food
I prepared modaks, home made chocolates, dry snacks to offer as bhog (food offered to God)and prasad (the food offered to God is distributed among devotees).
Modak is the traditional recipe of maharashtra which is relished by Ganpati. Since the elephant-head God is fond of food especially sweets, ladoo and modak are often served by everyone.
There are various recipes of modak. While the one with rice four and coconut jaggery is most common and famous, the recipes have been altered by the large sub-continent according the easy availability of ingredients.
Modak recipe ( from youtube):
Ingredients:
1 cup milk powder
1 cup powdered sugar
¼ cup milk
¼ cup ghee
Mix milk powder and milk to make a smooth paste. Then add sugar and make sure no lumps are formed. Once you have a fine smooth paste, add ghee.
Turn on the flame on low medium and keep stirring this paste till its brownish and little hardened. This make take half an hour too, so don't worry and don't hurry too.
Once you have the brownish paste, turn off the flame and let it cool a little, not much. Then put this mixture in the moulds, or give shape with your hand.
And your yummy modaks are ready.
CHOCOLATE RECIPE:
Ingredients:
chocolate bricks ( easily available in market)
dry fruits/ wafer sticks (as per your choice. These are optional)
Moulds in various shapes and sizes.
First we need to melt the chocolate. It can be done in two ways: either melt it in the microwave; or use double boiler. Place a small pan with water on gas and chocolate in a larger pan over it. keep stirring till it melts.
If you want to add, add dry fruits etc. now. Then put this paste in various moulds and let it cool in the refrigerator. It will take a maximum of 10-15 minutes.
And your chocolates are ready.
You can watch the videos of these preparations on my Instagram handle @theteenagertalks with the same logo.
Do try and let know how they turn out to be.
