Started celebrating in 1996 with the objective of welcoming the first Ahom King Sukapha from the Ahom kingdom of Assam who was considered the messenger of God. The popular festival has a long history there is a belief that the Ahom dynasty was formed by Chaolung Sukapha who was the prince of the Taj state of Moong Mao which is currently located in China
According to a belief, the cousin of the King was not ready to give away his throne due to which lots of obstruction was created. The function also includes an award ceremony given state government to prominent personalities this day reminds us of the period of 1215 which is believed to be a period of the Ahom dynasty
