Left My Heart In Punjab

We moved to Punjab in year 2005. When I was 4 years old. Because of my father's transfer we were never staying in a single town for more than a year. We would go to new places usually. Well that's good if you are interested in exploring different places. But when you are just 4-5 , how are you going to explore or enjoy such things ? The only thing you face is Difficulty in Settling down in a nice School or making a Best Friend or Getting used to the atmosphere there. When you are a kid you cannot tell that this place is nice or bad.
In what terms you call a place nice ? Let me know in the comments.
I remember the day when we moved to Punjab. I didn't know a single word in Punjabi language. Now I can write an entire page in a few minutes in Punjabi. It was very difficult for me to understand and learn their native language to read or write or speak. Although it has some alphabets that are similar to our hindi when we write but are completely different in meaning. My mother also learnt Punjabi language in order to teach us at home. Because How much we could learn at school ? And we needed to learn it ASAP to score well and get adapted to the environment. However, being a quick learner, I started learning it very well and scored the highest marks in next terms in my class. Proud of myself ( lol).
Our neighbours were so gentle and sweet talking. They would invite us on dinner often and serve us their special Punjabi dishes. Mom would ask them the recipe. She being a good cook , learnt almost everything that was famous in there, except the meat , as we are pure vegetarians. I made good friends - Anmol and Aman Preet. Boys were always ready to pick a fight , I don't know why ? Teachers also liked me a lot. They would ask me to tell something in Hindi or Sing a nice song for them. And I would instantly do that, thinking I must be good at it . Huh... I feel ashamed of it now 😬 how dumb of me !
I miss that place...very much ! Ah... I left my heart in Punjab when we moved back to Uttar Pradesh in year 2012. I miss every single thing about that state, my town, my school, that house , going to gurudwara every Sunday evening, milk roohafza …everything !
