The hand is very swollen and swollen. Excruciating pain during sleep. These are the symptoms. Be careful if you are also a frequent computer user. The condition can be carpal tunnel syndrome. Obese people and pregnant women are also more likely to get this disease. If you take some precautions in your work and lifestyle, you can completely avoid the difficulties of illness.

There are two nerves coming to our palm. They are the median nerve and the ulnar nerve. There is usually flesh on either side of a nerve. However, the median nerve passes over the bone and through the thick fleshy part of the hand at the wrist. The narrow passage through which this nerve passes is called the carpal tunnel. Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by compression of the nerve along this pathway.

The causes of carpal tunnel syndrome can be divided into two. 1. Due to physical condition. 2. Due to illness. Carpal tunnel syndrome is more common in women. Especially in people between 40 and 60 years of age. Pregnant women, those using birth control pills, and those who are obese are more at risk. The reason is the increase in water content in their body and cells. Hence the swelling in the flesh of the hand also occurs. This disease can occur in some people due to hormonal changes during menstruation. Carpal tunnel syndrome can also occur due to some of the following diseases. Acromegaly - This is a disorder in which the bones of the body are abnormally long and the limbs are abnormally large. Other hormonal disorders Carpal tunnel syndrome can occur not only in people who use computers regularly, but also in those who work with constant movement and strain on the hands and wrists. This includes sewing-embroidery workers, carpenters and swordsmiths. The main symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome are when you hold an object for a long time or hold on to the wire of the bassinet for a long time. Intermittent loss of sensation in one or both hands. As the disease progresses, the thumb will lose strength and mobility, and the flesh will atrophy.

Diagnosing carpal tunnel syndrome requires a proper description of the condition and a thorough examination. Nerve conduction study test and electromyography tests are done. These help measure the severity of nerve damage caused by the disease. Ultrasound, m. R. Eye scanning tests are also done to detect nerve problems. Medicines and surgery The primary treatment is to reduce the compression of the affected nerve as much as possible. That is, the strain on the hands due to pressing in front of the keyboard should be reduced. There are many ways to do this. One way is to use a splint to keep the arm in the correct position. A "wrist splint" helps keep the arms straight and in a "neutral" position on the keyboard, rests the arms, and prevents excessive arm bending while using the computer. This device, called a "cock up splint," is available at most hospital supply stores. Use the splint as prescribed by the doctors. It can be used at night while sleeping and resting. Obesity is another factor that leads to carpal tunnel syndrome. Excess fat in the wrist can cause nerve compression. So exercise and diet should be practiced to lose weight. Those taking birth control pills should also stop taking them. If the pain does not go away after using splints, you will have to take pills. Still, if the pain and swelling do not decrease, there is a treatment that reduces the swelling by injecting steroids around the nerve. Surgery is done as a last resort. This keyhole surgery involves removing the thick tissue that is compressing the nerve. This is called "median nerve decompression surgery". You can get to the hospital and have the surgery done on the same day and leave the hospital in the evening or the next day. Don't put too much strain on your hands for a day. Then you can start doing regular work.

Educative. Even I was a victim of this.
