Who Made These Rules In The Society?

There are many moments where we feel who made these rules . I personally have known these moments happening when my friends told me. Luckily I have a family who never put rules , never treat a girl and boy different and always gives them the whole freedom to be independent. I am writing down those which I came to know from my friends.

  1. A girl should cry at her “vidaai” : Seriously Why ? I agree when a girl leaves her own home and goes to a new home she is full of anxiety and also she will be leaving her parents which is a very sad thing. But there are times when girls are strong and they are happy married to their loved one. Sometimes they don’t get tears . They may have a feeling that wherever they go they knew they will be always there for their parents. In such cases if girls don’t cry it doesn’t mean people should force her to cry because that is the custom. It entirely depends on the girl whether she wants to cry or not. It is not like she is a loving daughter only if she cries. She is loving and caring even if she doesn’t cry. Stop making it a custom. Instead be happy for her happiness.
  2. A boy should never cry : Boys are always treated as people who should take all the responsibilities on their shoulders. They are treated as the ones who takes charge of whole family. They should never cry and instead they should act strong even if they are sad. But why ?????Why should boys act Strong when they are sad. They are human beings and they have all the right to express themselves. Why is it said “ Why are you crying like a girl ?” Is it written somewhere that only a girl can cry . Nooooo!!! There is nothing like that. All are human beings . Everyone undergoes different emotions. It is a natural process. Instead whenever you see a person cry , be it a boy or girl, console them. Be a support. Don’t criticize them.
  3. A girl should never resist her husband from doing whatever he wants to do : After marriage girls are supposed to do whatever husband wants her to do. A girl should not resist her husband when he is touching her without her consent. It is inhumane. She is a human being. Respect her feelings. Give her some time. There should be love and understanding between two persons. It is not something which needs to be forced. Be her/his support. Be there for each other.
  4. Children should never oppose their parents : Everything is decided by parents no matter whether the decision is good or not. This has to change. It is nothing wrong if a child advices his /her parents. It is not wrong when parents obeys their children when the intention of the child is good. What matters is the intention behind the advice. A parent or a child both have all the rights to advice. It is not a ritual that only parents can advice and children should obey. Start listening to each other and do what is good for the family.
  5. Marriage is necessary to survive : A girl when she reaches a certain age , say 25 ..she becomes the talk of the town. Whoever meets her is only concerned about her marriage . Same thing happens with boys too. At a certain age they are asked to settle down. Really ???? Is it necessary to marry for your survival. People marry for love. They can survive alone. There is no need of a husband/wife when there is no love between them. People should marry when they are ready. Not when they reached a age where they can marry.
  6. A girl is well cultured if she wears salwar kameez : There is nothing wrong in wearing a salwar kameez but the person who wears it should be comfortable with it . They should love what they wear. If the girl is more comfortable in jeans let her wear that. Wearing jeans doesn’t make a girl less cultured . It depends on the thoughts . Dress cannot judge a person.

Again i agree that this doesn’t happen at every home. There are people who treat their children well irrespective of the gender. There are cool parents. There are cool people in the society. This happens only at few places where people are still living up to the old traditions and cultures. I wish things are not that complicated in life.
Hope you guys liked the blog. Thanks for reading!!!!

I hope that next generation will change this thoughts and rules. Surely They will follow gender equality.
