Depression - Still A Taboo In The Society.

When you are depressed, everything around you is depressed. Your mind repeatedly observes, sees or interacts with certain things.  Even if there is a reason to be happy all hose things would remind you of sadness. It is important to change the existing environment around you even if you don't want to.

  1. If you can find a few honest and genuine people who care about you, please go and talk with them. Long conversations on happy topics would deviate your mind.
  2. Interacting with people stuck in similar situations . reading about such stories, knowing that world can't be cruel only to you . realizing that this state exists in plenty and you are not alone, realizing that someone overcame this and so would you.
  3. Mentally quitting the subjects that give you pain, uncertainty and stress . Let them go , commit to living without them, see your life in isolation from them, become free, gain independence from self, dance carefree on the burning coal this life gave you.
  4. Understanding the law of Karma, having a spiritual outlook towards life and knowing the why's in life. 
  5. Change in place and company of people even if it is for two days makes a lot of difference. Fresh people, fresh atmosphere, fresh conversations makes you feel in a better place. Talking to new people, neighbors , old friends, distant relatives.
  6. Self talk matters a lot, speaking to your wounded mind, consoling it, giving solutions, committing to stand by it, instructing it, bringing positive thoughts, crying with yourself and relieving the pressure of thoughts.
  7. Maintain a diary as soon as a negative, discouraging , insecure thought appears write it down.
  8. If you spend most of your time in your bedroom, your senses are engaged with the bedroom and its object, you are depressed, slowly your room would become a trigger for depression. 
  9. Change the setup of your home, arrangement of clothes, furniture and objects, play soothing music and bhajans, use different bedsheets and clothes.
  10. Watch different things on TV and social media. No negative news, no frustrating shows or videos. Read motivating books.

This will definitely help your mind to not develop depression triggers or get stuck in an infinite loop of depression. This really helps.

Also these are specific way of dealing with sadness, low feeling or depression. It must be combined with other ways like affirmations, taking more sunlight , expressing yourself, having a proper routine, practicing spirituality and seeking professional help if required.
