Why Unemployment Is Predominant In India?

Hi guys, Welcome to my blog. Today I want to write about one of India's biggest issues, i.e., Unemployment. According to the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy, the unemployment rate in India is 6.8 percent as of January 2024 statistics. The reasons behind unemployment are:

Population:

The population of India is around 1.43 billion and more than 50% of the population are young adults. So, in our country crores of students are graduated every year and there is a huge competition in every sector to get a job.

Less Core Jobs:

In India, 65% of students are in the engineering and medicine fields. For example, we take engineering, except for computer science, and IT, other branches have less scope of getting jobs in their core branches. Not only engineering but also other fields like Commerce, and Arts are in the same position.

Education System:

Indian education system is one of the biggest drawbacks of unemployment. In schools, they didn't provide any practical knowledge to students. In colleges, the syllabus is outdated and there is no basic lab equipments to teach students in some colleges. So, students will struggle to cope with the present job market due to lack of skills.

Government jobs:

After graduation, most of the students prepare for UPSC, GATE, Banking, Railway, and other state government jobs but fail to crack them. They waste their years preparing for these exams. So, it will create a career gap and most private companies don't accept that.

Less Developed Cities:

Only a few states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, etc., have developed cities. Only these developed cities have software companies, manufacturing sectors, and other industries while the rest are still under development.

Government Policies:

In some states, due to government policies, companies do not show interest in investing their business in that particular state. They move to other places where there is ease of doing business. So, it not only impacts the state economy but also on the students who are living and studying in that particular state.

Society:

Even though people are ready to take up small jobs to meet their ends employers are not ready to give them employment due to overqualification.

Career gap:

Some people get a career gap due to several reasons like marriage, health issues, family problems, etc.  Even though they have skills they face difficulties in getting a job because some companies don't entertain people with career gaps.

Thanks for reading guys !!!

True πŸ’― But there are so many scope at core field but we don't have that much knowledge to contribute on core fields. Here education focus only on CGPA and grades but not in practical knowledge which may results in unemployment.
