The Place Where I Belong

I step out of the room, barefooted,

Only to find a place for me in the world outside.

Not very big, not very elegant,

And not a popular one, too.

But a space where I can fit myself,

Either in an upright, sitting or lying state.

A place where everyone accepts me for who I am.

I brave myself up,

And I start walking the path in front,

Only to find the road uneven with stones and dust,

With no friends or family around.

The path seems quite quiet and lonely.

With dangers all around me,

But, I step forward, towards a place I am looking for.

A place I can call my destination.

Sometimes I try to look behind,

But everytime I stop myself.

Some stones prick my bare feet,

Sometimes I trip,

Sometimes I fell on the ground too,

But everytime I stand myself up,

And look forward the path again.

The fear deep inside sometimes knocks the door,

But I am 'fraid to let it outside of my heart.

Afraid that it will overpower itself on me,

And make me weak and indecisive,

Confuse me to think all over my mind.

And there comes a fast-flowing river,

Only to test my strength more.

Oh well! It fail to fright me out!

Why? 'Cuz what I see now is not the river,

Not the danger,

But the place I long for,

That is a space I need here, in this world.

The destination is in front of me,

And I only have to overcome the river,

I try to find many ways to get across it.

Sometimes a the branch of a tree,

Sometimes hanging on vines like the Tarzan.

I even try to swim across it,

Even though I don't swim well.

And everytime I fail.

I start to waver over my thoughts, too.

Sometime later I find stepping stones on the other side,

Six - or - seven in number

Somewhat far, somewhat risky, too.

But that's the only option left.

So, I jump on the first one,

Toddling a few times, then balancing again,

I jump to the next one, and the next one, and so on.

And so, I finally managed to get across the river.

With some cuts on my bare feet,

Somewhat dirty from the mud and dust,

Somewhat wet from the riverwater,

And, yet, I am finally here.

I am standing on the place,

The destination, I long-for so much.

Like the one on mind,

Like the one inside my heart,

It is the place I need so much.
